Three young men have been arrested following an armed robbery at a shop in Co Offaly today.

Just after 6.30am this morning, Monday 15th November, the men entered a convenience store in Ferbane armed with a number of weapons.

Once inside, they forced two female staff members to hand over cigarettes, alcohol, and cash before leaving the scene in a dark-coloured car.

The workers were unharmed and didn’t require medical attention after the incident.

In follow up searches today, all three men (aged 19, 20, and 26) were arrested in Galway and are all currently detained under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act, 2007 in Garda stations across the country.

Investigations are ongoing.
