Detained Three arrested by gardai investigating organised crime after raids in Portarlington, Co Laois

The raids were led by the Laois Detective Unit and Drugs Unit supported by the Armed Support Unit, Air Support Unit, Garda Dog Unit, uniformed members from the Laois/Offaly Division, Customs and Revenue and the Laois Dog Warden.

Three men have been arrested by Gardai investigating organised crime, drugs and firearms trafficking across the Midlands area.  

The trio are being held at Portlaoise, Tullamore and Birr Garda Stations following a number of searches in the Portarlington area of Co Laois, yesterday.

The raids were led by the Laois Detective Unit and Drugs Unit supported by the Armed Support Unit, Air Support Unit, Garda Dog Unit, uniformed members from the Laois/Offaly Division, Customs and Revenue and the Laois Dog Warden.

The men are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardai added that investigations are ongoing.
