SEX offenders in a segregated prison wing have a new barbers’ shop where the €2 for a haircut goes to the Fr Peter McVerry Trust.

In a pun on its setting behind bars in the Midlands Prison the shop has been officially called Bar Bars.

Just before Christmas the homelessness campaigner Fr McVerry was on hand to open the shop along with the head of the Irish Prison Service Caron McCaffery.
