
Awful Pensioner hospitalised after gang 'savagely' beat him in his home before stealing cash
'It was an awful and savage attack on a completely random and innocent man and he could have easily died only for healthcare workers who saved him'
A pensioner was rushed to hospital after a gang broke into his home and attacked him.
The incident took place at around 7pm last Tuesday, 18th January, at the man’s property on the N59 in Skreen, Co. Sligo.
The 75-year-old was targeted by a group after they forced their way into his house and beat him before making it away with a sum of cash.
The man was rushed to Sligo University Hospital to be treated. He is now in a stable condition and recovering from his injuries.
A source described the incident to The Irish Mirror as "an awful and savage attack."
“It was an awful and savage attack on a completely random and innocent man and he could have easily died only for healthcare workers who saved him,” they said.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the aggravated burglary come forward.

They are looking to speak to anyone who was in the Skreen/Dromard area, from 4-8pm on Tuesday 18th January and who may have witnessed anything to come forward.
A garda spokesperson said: "Anyone who may have camera footage from this area at this time (including dash-cam) is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sligo Garda station on 071 915 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
