Suffered assault Man remains in custody in connection with suspected murder in Phibsboro
GARDAI were continuing to question a man today in relation to a murder in Dublin on Friday.
Paul Murtagh (42) was found with severe head injuries in his house on Auburn Street in Dublin 7 on Friday afternoon.
Gardai believe he was killed by a man very well known to him who had had a number of rows with him in recent times.
Officers were called to the house on Thursday following an incident between the two men who have known each other for decades. However, the incident was not serious and no arrests were made.
Gardai suspect the man arrested assaulted Mr Murtagh following another row on Friday.
It is understood he had returned from England in recent years and had a number of disagreements with Mr Murtagh since then.
The man, who is aged in his 40s, was continuing to be questioned at Mountjoy Garda Station yesterday and gardai are not currently believed to be looking for anyone else in relation to the killing.
Gardai have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
“Investigating Gardaí at Mountjoy are appealing to any person with any information into the death of this man to contact them at Mountjoy Garda Station 01-6668600, the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
