A man remains in custody this morning after he was arrested following a drugs bust in north Dublin yesterday afternoon. 

Gardaí seized around €70,000 worth of suspected cannabis and cocaine during a search operation at a residential property in Ballymun.

Officers attached to Ballymun Garda station executed a search warrant at approximately 4.45pm.

During the subsequent search they discovered a small quantity of cannabis and a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of €70,000.

Gardaí also seized drug paraphernalia.

“The drugs will now be sent for analysis,” gardai said.

“During the course of the search one man in his early 30s was arrested at the scene and conveyed to Ballymun Garda station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. Investigations are ongoing.”

Meanwhile, a number of people have been arrested after gardai conducted a series of searches across Co Wexford last weekend under warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The Divisional Drug Unit supported by detective and uniform units, carried out the raids as part of Operation Tara.

In Bree approximately €20,000 of cannabis was seized and one man was arrested and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

In Oulart, gardaí seized over €3,000 in cash, approximately €3,000 of Clephredrone and approximately €2,000 worth of Diazepam. One man was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

In Wexford Town, approximately €600 cannabis was seized.

And in New Ross, approximately €9,000 of cocaine, cannabis and tablets were seized and one female was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
