A man is being quizzed this morning by gardai in Balbriggan Garda Station after €40,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb was seized under Operation Tara. 

The man, who is aged in his late 40s, was arrested by gardaí following a search at a residence in the town at approximately 4pm yesterday afternoon.

Gardai working as part of the operation carried out the raid with a warrant issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The man is currently being detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Gardai said investigations are ongoing.

Operation Tara was launched in July of last year as an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy that is focussed on tackling street-level dealing in cities, towns and villages across the country.
