A man has died and two others have been seriously injured in an assault at a house in west Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The incident unfolded at a house in the Ashfield Park area of Blanchardstown at around 4pm.

A man aged in his 40s was rushed to James Connolly Memorial Hospital. He later died there from his injuries.

A second man, aged in his 20s, and a woman, also aged in her 20s, both suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Mater Hospital.

The scene at Ashfield Park has been sealed off and gardaí are this evening carrying out a forensic examination at the house.

A post mortem is due to take place tomorrow and gardaí said the results of this will direct the course of their investigation.

Gardaí this evening said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.

Investigating gardaí have appealed to anyone who was in the Ashfield Park area between noon and 4pm today to come forward. They would also like to speak to any road users who have camera footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown garda station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
