Wheely angry
He makes a bolt from the scene but doesn’t get too far as gardai give chase and tackle him to the ground just yards further along the street.
This is the moment when a man "gets his kicks" on "freedom night" as he attacks a bar door in Leitrim just hours after the 8pm pub curfew was lifted.
The wild incident captured on a video entitled ‘Things are slowly getting back to normal again’ has been widely shared on TikTok.
It shows the man aim a few kicks at the door to Dunne’s Bar in Carrick-on-Shannon in the early hours of Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after pubs returned to their pre-Covid operating hours.
He also squares up to a member of staff and rises his fists, indicating he wants a fight, before kicking the door again.
But his timing is less than perfect as a Garda car pulls up to catch him in the act.
He makes a bolt from the scene but doesn’t get too far as Gardaí give chase and tackle him to the ground just yards up the street where another garda vehicle is waiting.
Gardaí confirmed that they are investigating a public order incident that occurred on Main Street, Carrick On Shannon, on January 23 at 1.47am.
“A man (20s) was arrested and conveyed to Carrick On Shannon Garda Station where he was detained before being released,” gardai said.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
