Cycle path Man charged after woman knocked off bike during Cork robbery

The man knocked her to the ground and then stole her bicycle and cycled away from the scene

A man has been charged after a robbery during which a woman was knocked off her bike in Cork city.

The victim was cycling on Sarsfield Road shortly before 4am on May 20 when she was approached by a man.

The man knocked her to the ground and then stole her bicycle and cycled away from the scene. The woman was not injured during the attack.

Gardai from Togher Garda Station probing the incident began gathering CCTV and searched online for any adverts selling the bicycle.

The bike was spotted on lost and found social media site and was recovered with the assistance of the Community Policing Unit in Togher.

A man in his 20s was later arrested on May 23, 2021 and was detained at Togher Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Cork City District Court this morning at 10.30am.
