A man has been arrested and a whopping €124,000 of cannabis has been seized during a raid on a growhouse in Boyle, Co. Roscommon this afternoon.

Gardaí attached to the Longford and Roscommon Divisional Drugs Unit searched the premises after receiving intelligence relating to the sale and supply of drugs in Boyle.

They conducted the search shortly after 12pm today.

During the raid, Gardaí discovered a sophisticated growhouse where three rooms had been adapted to cultivate cannabis plants.

Gardaí seized 55 cannabis plants at various stages of maturity at the residence, as well as 4kg of harvested cannabis herb.

The total estimated street value of the drugs is €124,000, which will now be sent for analysis.

A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested and taken to Castlerea Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
