​​A man in his 30s is being quizzed following the seizure of €70,000 worth of cocaine in Galway city last night.

The man was arrested during the operation when Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search at a premises on the Headford Road at approximately 10.30pm.

Gardai said that during the course of the search, €70,000 worth of suspected cocaine, divided into bags, was seized.

Drug paraphernalia was also discovered at the scene.

“The drugs will now be sent for analysis,” a garda spokesperson revealed.

“One man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 in Galway Garda Station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
