A man has been arrested following an "aggravated burglary" at a restaurant in north county Dublin.

At approximately 12 noon on Sunday, May 30, Gardaí received report of a burglary at a restaurant in the Applewood area of Swords.

The terrified staff were threatened with a weapon by a man who then fled with a sum of cash.

Officers from Swords Garda Station attended the scene and searched the area.

They found the suspect in his 20s at a nearby premises and arrested him.

He was taken to Swords Garda Station where he is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The sum of stolen cash was recovered.
