
Drug seizure Man arrested after gardai seize €187K of cannabis herb, cocaine, LSD and cash in Portlaoise

A man was arrested and taken to Portlaoise Garda Station where he is currently being quizzed by Gardai after €187,000 in drugs and cash were seized in Co Laois on Saturday.
Gardaà in Portlaoise arrested the man, who is in his 40s, during a search that was conducted as part of an ongoing surveillance operation.
Officers raided an address at around 3pm and during the course of the search, seized approximately 9kg of suspected cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €181,000.
A quantity of suspected cocaine was also seized with an estimated street value of €6,000 as well as cash to the value of €2,735, a small quantity of LSD and a weighing scales.
Gardai said the drugs are subject to analysis.
A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Portlaoise Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Gardai added that investigations are ongoing.
