A man has been arrested after he barricaded himself inside a Dublin apartment while armed with a “large domestic knife.”
Gardaí received reports at approximately 12pm on Tuesday that the man, aged in his 30s, had barricaded himself into a private residence on Sherrard Street in Dublin 1.
A woman in her 30s was also present in the apartment.
An Garda Síochána implemented their Operational Command protocol, with an on-scene commander appointed and local garda negotiators attending the scene supported by armed units.
The man was disarmed and arrested shortly after 4pm under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
He is currently being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The woman was uninjured during the incident but received medical treatment at the scene.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate all the circumstances in relation to this incident.
