Suspicious car-go Man and woman arrested after gardai seize over €100K cash from car in Tallaght

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences after over €100,000 in cash was seized in Tallaght yesterday.

As part of an ongoing intelligence-led probe targeting serious and organised crime involving transnational organised crime groups, a vehicle was stopped in a retail car park in Tallaght, Dublin 24 on Saturday.

The investigation was carried out by gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) supported by the Special Crime Task Force.

A substantial amount of cash was found in the vehicle and is estimated to be in excess of €100,000 (subject to counting following forensic examination).

A man (32) and a woman (26), were arrested on suspicion of involvement in an offence of Money Laundering, contrary to the provisions of section 7 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing) Act, 2010.

They were taken to Tallaght Garda Station, where they remain detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
