Man and woman (30s) arrested after drugs worth €400k discovered in car in Cork
Gardaí discovered 20kg of suspected cannabis herb

A man and a woman are being quizzed by gardai this morning thy unstopped in a car with drugs worth €400,000 in Cork yesterday.
Both of those who arrested, who are in their 30s, were held after gardai attached to the Midleton District Crime Unit and Midleton Drugs Unit stopped and searched a vehicle in the Carrigtwohill area at approximately 7.30pm.
Gardaí discovered 20kg of suspected cannabis herb, estimated to be worth €400,000. The drugs will now be sent for further analysis, gardai said.
“A woman and a man, both aged in their 30s, were arrested at the scene,” they added. “They are currently detained at Cobh Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
“Investigations are ongoing.”

The seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021.
The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
