Aggravated burglary Man allegedly assaulted Tralee homeowner with wheel brace during burglary

A man is due in court today after allegedly assaulting a homeowner with a wheel brace during a burglary.

The shocking incident took place at a house in Rahoonane, Tralee, Co Kerry yesterday afternoon.

A man suspected of carrying out the burglary entered the house and attacked the occupant at approximately 4pm.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested at the scene by Gardaí a short time later. He was brought to Tralee Garda station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Killarney District Court at 10.30am.
