'Serious injuries' Man (51) hospitalised with head and facial injuries after gang attack in Ballsbridge

Gardaí in Irishtown are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A man was rushed to hospital after being attacked by a gang in south Dublin on Sunday evening.

Shortly after 5pm, a 51-year-old man was approached and assaulted by a group of men while walking on Haddington Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

He is currently receiving treatment for facial and head injuries sustained during the incident. His injuries are described to be serious but not life-threatening.

Gardaí in Irishtown are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly to anyone who was area at the time following the international rugby match in the Aviva Stadium.

Anyone with camera footage and motorists with dashcam from the Haddington Road area between 4.30pm and 5.30pm has also been asked to make it available to An Garda Síochána.
