Man (50s) arrested after £79k and €64k in cash seized during search in Dublin

Gardai have arrested a man and seized more than €64,000 in cash - as well as sterling worth £79,010 - after stopping a car in West Dublin yesterday.

The money was discovered after the car was searched at around 6:45pm yesterday evening in the Clondalkin area.

During the course of the search, €64,500 and £79,010 in cash was discovered. Two mobile phones were also seized.

A garda spokesman said the man remains in custody after being arrested at the scene.

"A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene following the seizure and taken to Ronanstown Garda station. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984."
