Man (46) arrested after cocaine worth €3.1m seized from 'refrigerated' vehicle at Dublin Port

Gardai have seized €3.1 million worth of cocaine and arrested one man today after searching the 'refrigerated unit' of a vehicle at Dublin Port.
The drugs were discovered as part of an operation targeting suspects involved in 'Transnational Organised Crime', a garda spokesman has said.
A total of 45kgs of cocaine was uncovered with the help of drug-busting Customs dog, James, after the vehicle was stopped in an intelligence lead operation.

A 46 year-old man was arrested in relation to drug trafficking offences and is currently being detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Bridewell Garda Station
A garda spokesman said: "On Saturday the 29th of January 2022 as part of ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected of involvement in Transnational Organised Crime, a Joint Intelligence led operation was conducted involving personnel from the Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau.
"The operation resulted in a vehicle being stopped in Dublin Port and in a subsequent search of a refrigerated unit, James the Customs Dog located 45kgs of Cocaine concealed within the unit.
"The drugs with an estimated value of €3.1 million were subsequently seized."
