garda raid Man (40s) in custody after estimated €300k worth of suspected cannabis and €5,000 cash discovered

A man in his 40s remains in Garda custody this morning after he was arrested during drugs operation in North Dublin yesterday. 

An estimated €300,000 worth of cannabis (analysis pending) and €5,000 in cash were discovered by gardaí when they raided a house in the Lusk area as part of an ongoing investigation targeting local drugs distribution networks.

Gardaí attached to the Balbriggan District Drugs Unit found 21 packages of cannabis herb along with smaller amounts of cannabis resin and cocaine.

Packaging equipment and paraphernalia associated with the sale and supply of drugs as well as €5,000 in cash were also seized.

Gardai said: “A man in his early 40s was arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Balbriggan Garda Station. He can be held for up to seven days.

“The drugs will be sent to FSI for analysis.
