A fundraising appeal to repatriate the body of a Brazilian woman who was stabbed to death in her Finglas apartment has surpassed its goal in just three days.

The GoFundMe page to cover the costs of returning Fabíole Câmara’s body back to her family has passed the €16,672 goal and is now at a total of €17,907.

The 33-year-old’s childhood friend Daniela Loyarte has taken to Facebook to express her gratitude for the support.

“Three days after we started the crowdfunding, we were able to count on help from many people to send you back home to your family,” she has written.

“Yeah... not as I imagined and not as our plans were…but her soul was too much for this world.

“What a cruel world, what a difficult world, huh? But once again you showed me that God operates and there are amazing people in the world.”

She adds: "Thank you for opening my eyes, so much... today we finished the crowdfunding, many blessed people who wanted you well, helped, and we will be able to take you home to your family.”

Ms Loyarte had earlier posted: “Our friend, daughter and sister was born in São Paulo and lived for five years in Dublin, Ireland, where she passed away on November 4, 2021.

“In addition to facing the pain of his departure, family and friends must now bear the costs of moving Fabiole's body.

“For this reason, we ask for help, with any amount you can contribute, so that Fabíole returns to her country of origin and her family members can pay their last respects and say goodbye.
