Gerry ‘the Monk’ Hutch was carrying a false Croatian passport when arrested by cops in Spain.

The Guardia Civil have released footage of the moment Hutch was arrested as he was sitting in a restaurant with his wife in Fuengirola on the Costa Del Sol last week.

The Dublin criminal is now facing extradition to Ireland where he is set to be charged in connection with the Regency Hotel attack which claimed the life of Kinahan mobster David Byrne in 2016.

Hutch had been trying to keep a low profile since it emerged that a European Arrest Warrant had been issued for his arrest in April.

It has emerged that when cops lifted Hutch he was carrying a fake Croatian passport.

Hutch had been using his own credit card and bank account until recently but stopped using them in April once he was aware authorities were after him.

He had previously been living in Lanzarote but moved to mainland Spain in recent times and was staying close to the Kinahan cartel’s former stronghold on the Costa Del Sol.

Gardai were able to track Hutch to Fuengirola and were present when Hutch was arrested last Thursday.

After his arrest gardai were granted permission to search his apartment in Plaza de la Constitución in Fuengirola.

Hutch has not been cooperative with authorities since his arrest and is understood to be planning to challenge his extradition.

He appeared in court in Madrid on Saturday and is currently being detained in a Spanish prison.
