Two men have been arrested and quizzed after gardaí seized counterfeit cigarettes, tobacco, cash and a vehicle in relation to a money laundering investigation on Drogheda. 

A joint operation carried out by Drogheda Community Action Team and Louth Revenue and Customs resulted in the seizure of 13,500 counterfeit cigarettes, 9.75kg of tobacco and €3,855 in cash.

A vehicle was also impounded by gardai.

“Two males were arrested, detained and questioned for offences contrary to Section 119 of the Finance Act 2001,” gardaí said in a Facebook post.

“Enquiries in relation to this investigation are ongoing and a file will been sent to the DPP.”
