Growing, growing, gone Gardai seize €1.3m of cannabis plants in raid on growhouse in Ashbourne, Co Meath

Gardaí have seized €1.3 million worth of cannabis following a raid in Co. Meath last night.

Shortly before 9pm on Saturday evening, gardaí searched a premises in Ashbourne where they located a growhouse.

Approximately 1,100 cannabis plants were discovered during the search, amounting to €1.3 million in value.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.

The search was conducted as part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy which aims to combat street-level dealing in cities, towns and villages across the country.

Formed in July, the aim of Operation Tara is “to protect communities from the scourge of illegal drugs,” according to gardaí.

A garda spokesperson said: “Shortly before 9pm last night, Gardaí conducted a search of premises in Ashbourne. A grow house was located on the property. Approximately 1,100 cannabis plants (pending analysis) were discovered during the operation.

“No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing.”
