Gardai rush to the scene after woman (50s) stabbed to death in Ballymun

A woman in her 50s has been killed in a suspected stabbing in Ballymun, north Dublin.

The woman's remains were discovered after gardai and the emergency services were called to a house in Sandyhill Gardens just before 3.30pm this afternoon.

It is believed the woman had suffered a number of stab wounds.

The scene has been preserved pending the arrival of the State Pathologist to conduct a examination.

According to RTE, the woman is the mother of a number of children.

No arrests have been made.

A garda spokesman said they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

"Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident in a domestic residence in the Ballymun area where a female was discovered deceased in unexplained circumstances.

"The investigation into this incident is at an early stage and no further information is available at this time.

"Gardaí at Ballymun are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward."
