Gardai have said investigations are ongoing into what has been described as a mass brawl that broke out in the centre of Naas town over the weekend.

It was reported locally that several people had engaged in a series of fights along South Main Street shortly before midnight on Friday last.

There were claims that various implements including a baseball bat and a wheel brace were found in the aftermath of the violence that saw up to 15 people involved.

Gardaí said today that they were investigating a public order incident that occurred on South Main Street, Naas, Co Kildare, at approximately 11.45pm on Friday, August 6.

“Upon arrival of gardaí, the alleged suspects had fled the scene,” they said. “Three male youths attended Naas General Hospital to receive treatment for their non-life threatening injuries.

“Gardaí later recovered a number of suspected weapons at the scene. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”

Gardaí in Naas are appealing for any witnesses of this incident to come forward. They are also asking that any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at this time to make this available to them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
