Wheel danger Gardai nab motorist driving at 198km/h on motorway in Westmeath

A motorist was arrested after driving at an “unacceptable” speed of 198km/h in Co. Westmeath today.

Gardai were carrying out speed checks on the M6 motorway when they apprehended the driver.

Shortly before 10am this morning, officers detected a vehicle driving 78km over the motorway speed limit on the M6 at Culleenagower, Moate, near the Offaly border.

Details of the incident were shared by An Garda Síochána this afternoon on social media, where they said: “This speed is so unacceptable for other road users #pleaseslowdown”.
