Gardaí investigate burglary and criminal damage after blaze at Dublin Masonic lodge

Gardaí are investigating an incident of burglary and criminal damage after a fire occurred at the Masonic Lodge on Molesworth Street, Dublin 2.

At approximately 5:20pm on Friday December 31st Gardaí were alerted to an ongoing incident at the property.

Upon arrival they discovered the building on fire which was brought under control sometime later.

A man in his 30s was injured during the incident and was brought to St James Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí at Pearse Street investigating an incident of Burglary and Criminal Damage that occurred at a property in Dublin 2 yesterday evening, Friday 31st December 2021, are appealing to the public for information.”

Dublin Fire Brigade said that three fire appliances, a turntable ladder, district officer and ambulance were dispatched to the scene after a 999 was received reporting the blaze.

"Firefighters using breathing apparatus fought the fire containing the fire damage to one room. The fire was extinguished shortly after 6pm."

Gardaí are appealing to any members of the public who may have witnessed this incident or who can assist Gardaí to contact them.

Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who were in these areas at these times who have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make this footage available to Gardaí.
