Local gardai across the country have made a number of drug busts resulting the seizure of cannabis, alprazolam tablets, drug paraphernalia and cash and one arrest.
Gardai in Louth have revealed details of a local drug bust that resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cannabis.
Following a surveillance led operation, Gardaà attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit at Drogheda searched a man's home in Dunleer under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/84.
"During the course of the search a quantity of cannabis (€2,500) was seized along with drug paraphernalia," gardai posted on their Facebook page.
"This search was conducted as part of the ongoing Operation Stratus targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in rural Co Louth.
"At all times during the course of this operation Covid-19 guidelines were strictly adhered to and PPE equipment was used correctly."
The Garda Press Office confirmed details of the raid and revealed the operation took place on the night of Tuesday, January 12.
Meanwhile, An Garda SÃochána in Tipperary seized tablets and cash in an operation in Clonmel.
A post on their official Facebook page revealed: "This morning, a search was conducted in the Bianconi Drive area of Clonmel by the Clonmel District Drugs Unit, assisted by the Community Policing Unit and members of Unit A.
"Alprazolam tablets with an estimated street value of €800 was recovered along with €555 in cash and a mobile phone.
"A man in his mid 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Clonmel."
