In custody Gardai arrest two in Cork after man out walking has his phone stolen

Two men have been arrested in Cork City after a man out walking was struck in the face and had his phone stolen last week. 

The victim was attacked by two men shortly after midnight on June 4 on Lower Glanmire Road.

After the assault the man attended Cork University Hospital and was later discharged.

The incident was reported to Detective Gardaí in Mayfield Garda Station on June 6 who then launched an investigation.

They gathered CCTV footage and conducted house-to-house enquiries that led to the arrets of two men, both aged in their 20s last night in Cork city.

They were brought to Mayfield Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
