Two people have been arrested after gardai conducted a “stop and search” operation in the Dublin 8 area. 

A total of €65,000 in drugs and cash were seized after gardai attached to Kevin Street Divisional Drug Unit assisted by the DMR Surveillance unit, carried out a planned operation at a house on Nicholas Street and Bride Street on Monday evening.

“A woman, 21-years-old, was searched and diamorphine was seized with an estimated street value of €29,960 (subject to analysis),” gardai said.

“A further stop and search was conducted and a man (52) was found with €4,450 cash on his person.

“Both persons were arrested at the scene and detained under Section 2, Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Kevin Street Garda station.”

Gardai added that further search was conducted of two properties and diamorphine was discovered with an estimated street value of €35,000 (subject to analysis).

They said investigations are ongoing.
