Drugs bust Gardaí arrest teen and seize €45k worth of suspected cocaine in Co Galway sting

Gardaí have seized €45,000 worth of suspected cocaine and arrested a teenager following a search in Ballinasloe, Co Galway.

Officers attached to Ballinasloe Garda Station conducted an intelligence-led operation in the Dunlo Harbour area on Sunday.

During the course of this operation a quantity of suspected cocaine, estimated to be worth €45,000 hidden on derelict grounds was seized.

A boy in his mid-teens was arrested at the scene and detained at Ballinasloe Garda Station on Sunday.

He has since been released with a file being prepared for the Garda Youth Diversion Office.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
