
Gun attack Garda probe after shots fired at home of Conor McGregor's close pal in Dublin
The suspected target of the attack is a convicted drug dealer in his 30s
Gardaí are investigating after up to seven shots were fired at the Dublin home of a close pal of Conor McGregor.
The gun attack happened in Crumlin overnight and is believed to be linked to a simmering local feud.
No injuries were reported during the incident which happened on Downpatrick Road shortly after midnight.
The suspected target of the attack is a convicted drug dealer in his 30s who is considered a close friend of Conor McGregor.
The UFC fighter, who has no involvement in criminality, and his pal have been regularly spotted in each other’s company in recent years.
The target of last night’s shooting incident cannot be named for legal reasons.
Detectives suspect that it is linked to a local feud which has seen a number of online threats issued in recent weeks.
The suspected gunman is a violent Crumlin criminal who has previously served a lengthy jail sentence over an armed robbery.
The man, aged in his mid-30s, has also been convicted over a number of violent assaults.
A source told the Sunday World: “There have been a number of insults thrown around and threats made on social media so its no surprise that this has escalated.

“It’s fairly obviouss who the prime suspect for this is given what has gone on but he hasn’t been located yet.
“Both men involved in this dispute have links to organised crime and the fear is that the situation may deteriorate further,” the source added.
Up to seven shots were fired during the gun attack and the scene was sealed-off for a technical examination.
Gardaí confirmed that they are investigating the matter and are carrying out inquiries.
A spokesman said “Shortly after midnight, on Thursday, 10th February 2022, Gardaí were alerted following reports of a number of gun shots fired at a house on Downpatrick Road, Crumlin. Dublin 12.
“None of the occupants of the house were injured. The scene is preserved for forensic and technical examination by local scenes of crime officers.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station 01 666 6600 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111. “
Gardaí are also carrying out a separate investigation into a petrol bomb attack in the area overnight.
A house on Stannaway Road was targeted but no injuries were reported and at this stage the two incidents are not believed to be linked.
