Gardaí are investigating after up to seven shots were fired at the Dublin home of a close pal of Conor McGregor.

The gun attack happened in Crumlin overnight and is believed to be linked to a simmering local feud.

No injuries were reported during the incident which happened on Downpatrick Road shortly after midnight.

The suspected target of the attack is a convicted drug dealer in his 30s who is considered a close friend of Conor McGregor.

The UFC fighter, who has no involvement in criminality, and his pal have been regularly spotted in each other’s company in recent years.

The target of last night’s shooting incident cannot be named for legal reasons.

Detectives suspect that it is linked to a local feud which has seen a number of online threats issued in recent weeks.

The suspected gunman is a violent Crumlin criminal who has previously served a lengthy jail sentence over an armed robbery.

The man, aged in his mid-30s, has also been convicted over a number of violent assaults.

A source told the Sunday World: “There have been a number of insults thrown around and threats made on social media so its no surprise that this has escalated.

“It’s fairly obviouss who the prime suspect for this is given what has gone on but he hasn’t been located yet.

“Both men involved in this dispute have links to organised crime and the fear is that the situation may deteriorate further,” the source added.
