THIS is the haul of 'airsoft' weapons and ammunition seized from a man following a garda operation on Sunday night.

Gardaí in Offaly rushed to a location in Edenderry after receiving reports that a man dressed in camouflaged attire was carrying a loaded gun in the area.

They arrested the suspect at around 10pm on Sunday for possession of a firearm after he was found acting suspiciously while carrying a holstered air pistol.

He was brought to Tullamore Garda station where he was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

A search of a property was carried out resulting in the seizure of a number of suspected firearms.

All weapons will be sent to the Ballistics Unit for examination.

The male has since been released without charge and a file is in the process of being prepared for the DPP.
