Four arrested after shocking fight breaks out in Athlone shopping centre
Four men have been arrested by gardai following a shocking day-light punch up in a retail premises in Athlone.
The men, aged in their 20s, 30s and 40s, were arrested after being gardai were called to the scene of violent altercation inside Athlone Shopping Centre yesterday afternoon.
Security staff looked on powerless to intervene as two men traded a flurry of punches.
Video footage of the altercation shows the men trading several blows before quickly tiring.
In a statement to SundayWorld.com, a Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardai investigating a public order incident that occurred at a retain premises in Athlone today have arrested four men (aged in their 30, 20s & late teens ).
“The two in their 20s have since being charged and are due to appear before Athlone District Court on Wednesday 2nd June 2021,"
