Chaos Dramatic video shows Gardaí pull five youths from burning car after Dublin pursuit

Gardaí pulled five youths from a burning car in Dublin last night following a pursuit across the city.

One teenager was hospitalised and the driver of the car was arrested after he failed to stop for gardaí in the Tallaght area.

At around 8pm the pursuit ended when the car crashed and flipped onto a footpath on the New Nangor Road in Clondalkin.

Footage of the incident shows the car on its side with flames and smoke coming from underneath the vehicle.

The officers then proceed to pull the youths out through the window of the car one-by-one before detaining them at the roadside.

One garda is also seen attempting to extinguish the flames while a number of bystanders look on.

The driver of the car, aged in his late teens, was arrested for road traffic offences and has since been released without charge.

Another teenage passenger was brought by ambulance to hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

One source said: "It's very fortunate that no one was seriously injured arising from this incident including those in the car, the gardaí involved or people at the scene where the car crashed."

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

A Garda spokeswoman said they conducted a "managed containment operation" when the car failed to stop for gardaí in Tallaght.

"The operation came to a conclusion when the car struck a bank on the New Nangor Road, Clondalkin at approximately 8pm.

"Five males were in the vehicle at the time and one male, a youth in his teens was removed from the scene by ambulance to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries," she said.

"The male driver of the car, (late teens) was arrested at the scene and taken to Rathfarnham garda station. He has since been released without charge pending further investigations.

"The other three males were uninjured. Investigations ongoing," the spokeswoman added.
