AN American boxing coach and promoter proudly posed with mob boss Daniel Kinahan - despite the growing controversy around the gang leader's involvement in the sport.

Boxing authorities, sponsors and TV stations are facing mounting pressure to cut ties to big-money fight promotions linked to Kinahan.

But that didn’t bother the Florida based promoter Peter Kahn who today posted a snap taken as he sat with Kinahan in what looked like a reading room.

“Great catching up with my friend Daniel last week in Dubai,” he posted, without any reference to what the meeting was about.

The Bronx native, who has worked with Don King according to reports, is described on his website as “an entrepreneur at heart, a hybrid marketer, promoter and brand builder.”

He adds that he has managed and promoted “dozens of world champions” during his career over three decades.

Kinahan, who is based in Dubai, had been credited with brokering the deal that will see heavy fighters Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua face each other in what could be the richest ever boxing match.

The BBC’s recent Panorama documentary detailed how Daniel Kinahan, who was named in the High Court as being involved in serious criminal activities, is linked to professional boxing.

The affidavit from the Criminal Assets Bureau said he managed and controlled the day-to-day operations of the Kinahan organised crime gang from Dubai.

This weekend outspoken TD Neal Richmond said he had written to the United Arab Emirates ambassador to ask if he is aware of Daniel Kinahan.

He said Kinahan "should not be allowed live a charmed life in exile as the families of his gang’s victims continue to mourn here in Ireland"
