Jeffrey Anderson, who appeared on BBC hit show The Voice, is facing jail after he was convicted at Belfast Crown Court recently for masturbating in front of a 12-year-old girl.
The horrified child saw Anderson playing with himself in the front seat of his mum’s flash BMW sports car which was parked close to a number of schools – though he tried to claim he was just playing a miniature guitar!
The shocking conviction came a year after Anderson was convicted of a raft of sex offences including sexual assault and voyeurism after he secretly filmed a number of women.
This week we tried to confront Anderson to give him an opportunity to explain his disgusting behaviour.
However the 31-year-old is now in hiding at his parents’ plush gated mansion in Co Down.
Electrically operated security gates at the end of a long private driveway guard the luxury property while intercoms and sophisticated CCTV cameras warn callers they are being monitored.
When we buzzed the intercom to ask if Jeffrey Anderson wanted to explain himself, we were greeted by a older gentleman.
After establishing who we were he politely told us: “I’m sorry but he is not in a position to speak about it at this time but thank you for giving us the opportunity.”
Last night a former pal told the
Sunday World: “He’s brought shame upon his respected family and it’s ironic given what he was into that he’s now hiding behind 6ft security gates.
“The women he filmed in secret while committing sex acts on himself never had such protection from him.”
Anderson wasn’t so shy about coming forward when he was caught committing a string of sex offences which started when he was just a teenager himself.
When he was caught committing a lewd act in front of the schoolgirl in June 2018, he was at the time facing a charge of rape but that has been left on the books.
Sources who have known Anderson through his work in singing have told the Sunday World there have been concerns about his behaviour for years.
“He was involved in youth singing and he always had a reputation for being sleazy,” said one source.
“He was cossetted because of his obvious talent but he clearly had issues which maybe could have been dealt with much sooner.
“Hopefully it wouldn’t happen so easily today because of the Me Too movement but people definitely turned a blind eye to his behaviour because he was very talented.”
Anderson was found guilty last week by a jury of ‘committing an act of a lewd obscene and disgusting nature and outraging public decency by exposing and rubbing his penis whilst sitting in a parked car in view of a member of the public’ in June 2018.
Anderson was released on bail ahead of sentencing next month but he was told to prepare for the possibility of prison by the judge who said: “I will be thinking about a custodial sentence as a disposal in this case.”
The schoolgirl, who is now 16, gave evidence at the trial.
She recalled how she was in the area after school and was walking with friends when she saw a man masturbating in a parked car.
The teenager said: “It was a really fancy sports car and as I walked past it a man just caught my eye.
“His seat was completely rolled back and I could see his bottom half, which was naked.
“He had his pants down and he was rubbing his penis.”
Anderson found fame on TV talent shows The Voice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Superstar, and gained the nicknamed ‘Baby Jesus’ while touring as an understudy in the UK
production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
He was handed a three-year suspended sentence last July after he admitted secretly recording 11 women over a period spanning 2005 to 2013.
He admitted secretly recording women for his own sexual gratification and also pleaded guilty to sexual assault and assault.
One of his victims said she was “heartbroken” after he was handed the suspended sentence.
When asked about this during his most recent trial, Anderson said the offences occurred when he was immature and they were “selfish mistakes”.
He told the court: “I was naive and I made mistakes and I admitted my guilt for those charges. I certainly learned a lesson from that.
“I admitted my guilt, which was set in stone, but I’m not going to admit guilt for something like this that I haven’t done.”
During the previous trial, he had admitted sexually assaulting one of his victims in 2012, and assaulting another woman, occasioning actual bodily harm, in 2015.
The court was also told that Anderson had a medical condition which led to issues with erectile dysfunction.
He’ll find out if he’s going to jail for the car incident when he’s sentenced on December 3.
