The Criminal Assets Bureau seized almost €45,000, an Audi, and other designer goods during a search operation in Galway and Limerick today.

The search, which took place on Tuesday morning, involved over 60 personnel and was led by Bureau Officers supported by the Galway Divisional Drug Unit, Regional Armed Support Unit, The Garda Dog Unit, and the Customs Dog Unit.

Six residential properties and one professional premises were searched in Galway and Limerick, where €22,000 in cash was discovered and seized.

A further €17,000 was discovered and restrained in bank accounts and another £4,450 (approximately €5290) was confiscated during the operation.

A black Audi A6 with a 191 registration plate and some designer goods, including a hoard of luxury shoes, were also seized.

The search operation targeted an organised criminal group involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Galway region.

The investigation commenced following a referral to the Criminal Assets Bureau by a profiler attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit.

To date, the investigation has resulted in the seizure of €18,680 in cash, two Rolex watches, and €66,000 in funds restrained in a bank account.
