A woman is due to appear before a special sitting of Kilmallock District Court this afternoon after gardai found drugs worth more than €200,000 following a car stop in Limerick.
The woman, who is in her 40s, was arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Limerick by gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit
Gardaí recovered €45,000 of suspected cannabis herb when they stopped a vehicle on Clonmacken Road on Wednesday.
The drugs were seized and the driver of the car was taken to Henry Street Garda Station where she was held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

“Following further inquiries, a follow-up search was conducted at a residence in Tallaght, Dublin 24 yesterday evening,” gardai said.
“During the course of the follow-up search, gardaí seized approximately €110,000 of suspected cannabis herb and €56,000 of suspected heroin.
“All seized drugs will now be sent for analysis. Investigations are ongoing.”
Gardai said this morning: "Gardaí investigating the seizure of €211,000 worth of drugs during an investigation under Operation Tara have charged the woman that was arrested on Wednesday 16th March, 2022 and detained at Henry Street Garda Station.
"The woman, aged in her 40s, is due to appear before a special sitting of Kilmallock District Court this afternoon, Friday 18th March, 2022 at 2pm."
Gardaí said previously that the seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021.
