A woman in her 20s who was arrested in relation to a suspected hit and run in Drogheda is to appear before the courts next month. 

A pedestrian was struck by a car which is alleged to have failed to remain at the scene on Monday evening.

Gardaí had gone to the scene on Scarlett Street, Drogheda just after 5.30pm following reports that an 18-year-old female had been struck by a car.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A woman was later arrested and taken to Drogheda Garda Station where she was held for questioning on suspicion of endangerment under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

“The woman, aged in her 20s, who was arrested in relation to this incident has since been charged,” gardaí said. “She is due to appear before Drogheda District Court (sitting in Dundalk) on July 19 at 10.30am.
