Alan Dignam is well known in GAA circles in the Co Wicklow area.
A well-known publican has been remanded in custody and another man was granted bail after they were charged with threatening to kill or cause serious harm to another person.
Alan Dignam (49) of The Woodpecker pub in Ashford, Co Wicklow, is charged with the offence which allegedly happened at Ballinahinch in Ashford between February 19 and 20 last.
The alleged victim in the case is a man from Co Wicklow.
Mr Dignam is well known in GAA circles in his local area.
Another man Noel Byrne (30) of Ballinalea, Ashford, faced the same charge at a special sitting of Bray District Court yesterday.
Mr Dignam was remanded in custody while Mr Byrne was granted bail but he must obey a curfew as part of his bail conditions.
The charges are under Section 5 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
Mr Dignam is next due in court on March 7 where an application for bail is expected to be made.
Mr Byrne is due to appear before Bray District Court on April 11 next.
The investigation in the case is being carried out by officers from Wicklow town.
