Three men appeared before Trim District Court this morning after gardai discovered two stolen vehicles in a “chop shop” scrapyard in Crossakiel, Co Meath.
The three had been arrested earlier and detained by gardai in Kells Garda Station following a search of the premises yesterday.
Detectives from Navan with the assistance of officers from Kells carried out the search of the scrapyard under warrant and identified two vehicles that had previously been reported stolen.
The Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit were called in and assisted Scenes of Crime Unit Meath with an examination of the scene and the motor vehicle parts found at the site.
“Three men were arrested and conveyed to Kells Garda Station where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984,” gardai said.
“The three men have been charged and are scheduled to appear before Trim District Court this morning."
Gardai added that this particular investigation “is ongoing”.
