A TENANT was arrested after he lost his temper with a washing machine and kicked the door off its hinges because it had trapped his clothes.

Online marketing worker Ali Ghomeshi Bozorg (40) was living in "run down" shared accommodation at the time, a court heard.

Judge Bryan Smyth adjourned the case.

Bozorg, with an address at Gardiner Street in the north city centre pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage.

Dublin District Court heard the incident happened at an apartment at Clonliffe Road, Dublin 3 last September 8.

The accused was in the kitchen at 10am when he kicked the washing machine door, causing it to break off its hinge, Garda Sergeant Michelle Lynch said.

This was reported to gardaí and the accused was arrested and charged.

While he was being searched at Mountjoy station, gardaí found a blade "disguised as a wrist bracelet".

He was also charged with possession of a weapon over this.

Defence solicitor Kate McGhee said Bozorg had been in "fairly run down" shared accommodation and the washing machine "had broken and trapped his stuff inside".

"He lost his temper and kicked it," Ms McGhee said.

The bracelet was for fishing, and the knife was "the clasp itself", she said. The accused had worn it for years and never took it off, the court heard.

Bozorg worked in online marketing and his rent was quite significant, Ms McGhee said.
