A young man in his late teens has appeared in court after two people were stabbed in Waterford on the morning of St Stephen’s Day. 

He had been arrested by gardai following the assault that occurred in the Viewmount Park area and taken to Waterford Garda Station.

He was later charged and appeared before Waterford District Court on the morning of Monday, December 27.

A male and female received non-life threatening injuries during the assault.

“Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred in the Viewmount Park area of Waterford on the morning of Sunday, December 26,” gardai said.

"A male and female received non-life threatening injuries during the assault."

"A male juvenile in his late teens was later arrested in connection with this assault and taken to Waterford Garda Station.

"He has since been charged and appeared before Waterford District Court on the morning of Monday, December 27.
