A man has been remanded in custody following an aggravated burglary in Tramore, Co Waterford, over the weekend that left a woman in hospital. 

The victim is currently recovering from what are described as “non-life-threatening injuries” after the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It has been reported that the aggravated burglary took place in a residence near the Ladies Slip.

Gardai said the man who was arrested was charged on the afternoon of Monday, July 5 relation to the aggravated burglary and brought before Waterford District Court at 3.30pm.

He was remanded in custody and will appear again at a later date.

“Gardaí are investigating a suspected aggravated burglary that occurred in Tramore in County Waterford in the early hours of Sunday, July 4,” gardai said.

“One woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

“One man was arrested in connection with this investigation and detained at Tramore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“The arrested man was charged the afternoon of Monday, July 5 in relation to the aggravated burglary and brought before Waterford District Court at 3.30pm.”

Gardai added: “He was remanded in custody and will appear again at a later date. Investigations ongoing.”
