A man is due to appear before a sitting of Monaghan District Court this morning, after more than €150,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and herbs were discovered in Carrickmacross.

The man had been arrested in connection with the seizure on Monday and later charged.

He is due to appear before a sitting of Monaghan District Court this morning, Wednesday October 27, at 10.30am.

Earlier, gardaí said that officers attached to Carrickmacross Garda Station carried out a search of a house under Operation Tara at approximately 9pm.

“During the course of the search approximately €150,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and dried cannabis herb was located and seized,” gardai said.

“A man in his early 20s was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drugs Trafficking Act 1996.”
