AN aggressive woman taunted a garda for wearing "skinny jeans" and said he was "power tripping" during a city centre disturbance, a court heard.

The officer was dealing with a public order incident when Ciara Fennell (26) shouted insults at him.

Judge Brian O'Shea fined her €100 at Dublin District Court for engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour.

Fennell, of no fixed address, had pleaded not guilty but failed to appear in court for the hearing.

The garda said in evidence he was on plain-clothes duty dealing with an incident at 3.30pm on Wicklow Street last August 26.

He said Fennell began to shout and act in an aggressive manner toward him, using abusive language.

She told him, "You're a fa***t in your skinny jeans and you're a power-tripping b*****d", the court heard.

The officer told her to desist and arrested her for a public order offence when she failed to do so.

The court heard Fennell had 24 previous convictions, mostly for theft offences.

Judge O'Shea gave her six months to pay the fine and set recognisances in the event of an appeal.
